Hair loss advice for men

Male hormones and hair loss

Too young to be already losing your hair? You can probably blame your male hormones. Especially in younger men, too much androgen can lead to early hair loss. Conventional treatment focuses on hormone reducing topical lotions and internal medications - especially targeting DHT (dihydrotestosterone) – throughout the entire body. Another treatment method inhibits hormones in the hair follicles themselves - and (allegedly!) not the entire body.

But you should be wary: Manipulating hormone production can have adverse effects – and perhaps even cause yet unknown problems. However on the up side, men respond reasonably well to other, non-invasive treatments – especially IR laser photo therapy, the same therapy found in HairBeam.

As we mature

Mature men typically have more pronounced age related conditions, such as inflammation, immune deficiencies, and decreased circulation to the hair follicles - micro-capillary perfusion. The secret to retaining a healthy head of hair is to take corrective action before it’s too late.

The DHT affair

To some degree, effective hair loss treatments for men over 45 use treatments for dihydrotestosterone – or simply DHT.

But DHT has become the “poster child” for age related hair loss, while ignoring other, more closely related problems. As we noted, inflammation, an increase in environmental estrogens, and decreased micro-capillary perfusion all become increasingly more significant as the years go by. It’s what Mark Twain once lamented as: “The wanton insult of aging.”

The Norwood Scale – A Window Into Your Possible Future You may want to take a look at this "Norwood Scale". It’s the most commonly used method to identify specific hair loss patterns. You will be able to see exactly which class of hair loss applies to you, and to what extent your loss has progressed. It’s also a good way to see how things can continue - if your situation is left untreated.
